How to remove a device from kiosk mode?

Kiosk mode allows you to lockdown the device to a single app or a set of required applications. It disables the user from modifying device settings or accessing any other features not configured inside the kiosk policy. Kiosks are mainly deployed in cases where the device serves a single purpose. Sometimes you would require the devices in kiosk mode for a different use case requiring the user to access all the device features. To access a device in full-extend, you should exit the device from kiosk mode. Kiosk exit methods vary with the platform, and Hexnode allows the admins to exit kiosk mode from the Hexnode console or can allow the users to do it manually from the device. Let’s see the kiosk exit methods in various platforms.

iOS

  • Remove/delete the associated kiosk policy from the device.
  • Disable kiosk mode using Apple Configurator.

Android

  • Disable kiosk mode from instant management actions.
  • Remove/delete the associated kiosk policy from the device.
  • Hexnode also allows you to exit from kiosk mode from the device. Configure the exit kiosk password on the portal using which you could exit from kiosk mode.

Windows

  • Remove/ Delete associated kiosk policy from the device.
  • In case if the above method fails, then you exit from the kiosk account by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL.

tvOS

You can enable kiosk mode back on the device by re-associating the kiosk policy. In the case of an Android device, you can enable kiosk mode from instant management actions.
