How to exit Apple TV kiosk mode?

Kiosk mode is a lockdown mechanism that can be used to restrict the device to specific applications. Hexnode supports the lockdown of a supervised Apple TV to a single enterprise app. You have to remove the kiosk policy to retrieve the device back from the single app mode. Exiting the kiosk mode helps in redeeming all the functionalities of an Apple TV.

Method 1: Remove the policy target

    1. Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
    2. Navigate to the Policies tab.
    3. Open the required policy.
    4. Go to Policy Targets.
    5. Click on the remove button corresponding to the device from which you want to remove the policy.
    6. Click on Save.
  • Method 2: Disassociate the policy

    1. Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
    2. Navigate to Manage > Devices.
    3. Click on the device from which the policy has to be removed.
    4. Go to the Policies subtab.
    5. Click on the trash icon corresponding to the policy to remove it from the device.
  • Method 3: Archive the policy

    1. Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
    2. Navigate to the Policies tab.
    3. Select the required policy.
    4. Click on Manage > Move to Archive.
    5. Click on Okay.
  • Notes:

    • The archived policies can be viewed under Policies > Archived Policies. You can either restore or delete those policies.
    • On restoring an archived policy, the policy targets won’t get restored (the policy stays disassociated from the target device).

    Exceptions:

    • If the policy is associated with a custom device group, then you cannot remove the policy from a specific device. You’ll have to remove the device from the device group.
    • If the policy is associated with a dynamic device group, you cannot remove the policy from a single device. You will have to either remove the dynamic group from policy targets or archive the policy.
