How to Integrate Google Maps API with Hexnode

Hexnode UEM location tracking provides geographic coordinates by default, allowing you to add custom API keys for address resolution. If you want to fetch addresses, you need to register for your own API key and a Google Cloud Platform billing account. If you do not integrate the Google Maps API Key with Hexnode UEM, device locations will just show up on the map, but you won’t be getting to know their actual physical addresses. The admin can either add an already existing Google Maps API Key or can generate a new one.

Generating a new Google Maps API Key

To generate a new Google Maps API key,

  1. Go to the Google Maps Platform Console > Click on the GET STARTED button > Select Maps from the list > Click on Continue.
  2. Create a new project or select one from the existing list > Click Next.
  3. To create billing account, select the country > Click Confirm.
  4. Add Customer Info.
  5. Choose Payment Method and add Payment Details > Click on Submit and enable billing.
  6. Select the website where the map is to be displayed from the Account Overview page.
  7. Choose Maps JavaScript API.
  8. Click on the Enable button to allow maps for your website.
  9. Choose APIs credentials.
  10. Select API key option.
  11. Copy the generated API key.
  12. Select HTTP referrers for your site.
  13. You can see map usage on your account overview page.

Adding Google Maps API Key to Hexnode MDM Portal

To enter the generated Google Maps API key in the portal,

  1. Login to your Hexnode MDM portal.
  2. Go to Admin > General Settings.
  3. Navigate to Google Map API Key Settings and enter the generated API Key.
  4. Click Save.
Note:

Make sure you have entered the correct key without any extra spaces. Adding an invalid API key prevents Hexnode UEM from loading maps on the portal.
