How to add Knox Platform for Enterprise (KPE) Premium license key?

The Knox Platform for Enterprise (KPE) Premium license key is a paid commercial key used to access both standard and premium permissions from Samsung Knox. It is required to manage the Knox container on Samsung devices. The key provides advanced security features as well as comprehensive device configurations and controls.

The Knox Platform for Enterprise Premium license can work on a large number of devices over different periods. This KPE license key will replace the legacy Enterprise License (ELM) and Knox License (KLM) keys.

How to Purchase Knox Platform for Enterprise License Key?

The KPE License Key has to be purchased from a Knox-authorised reseller. The key is priced based on the device count, and has an expiration period. Nevertheless, to add new devices once the device cap is reached, the organization might have to purchase new licenses. However, you can revoke the license of an existing device to allocate it to a new one.

  1. Log in to your Samsung Knox Partner or Samsung Knox Developer account.
  2. Navigate to License Keys > My License Keys > All Keys > Add License Key.
  3. Click on Get a License Key.
  4. Provide the necessary details and complete the on-screen instructions to get the license key.

Add the Key in Knox Partner/Developer portal

The purchased license key has to be added to the Knox Partner or Developer portal to deliver advanced management actions on the devices.

To do so,

  1. On your Knox portal (partner or developer), navigate to License Keys > My License Keys.
  2. Go to All Keys > ADD LICENSE KEY > Register a license key from the reseller.
  3. Add the Knox Premium License key and click VALIDATE KEY, and provide an Alias for the key.
  4. On the ASSOCIATE PACKAGE FOR ADDITIONAL SECURITY, check the box corresponding to the declaration (I, as a representative of my company, confirm the app I am about to upload belongs to us).
  5. Click on EXTRACT PACKAGE and confirm that the app belongs to your organization.
  6. Choose the Hexnode MDM or Hexnode for Work APK to bind the APK with the license key.
Note:

Only a single APK can be uploaded at a time. To add the package to an already added License Key, go to My License Keys and click on the license name. From the License Key details page, click on Associate Package to add the new APK.

Validate the License Key

A Knox Premium License Key has an expiry period and can only be associated with a limited number of devices. The organization might require to check the validity of the premium license key.

To check the validity,

  1. Log in to the Samsung Knox portal and navigate Licenses > COMMERCIAL KEYS.
  2. You can see the added keys there, the Knox Solution to which it is associated, the key status, the issued and the expiry date, the total number of seats purchased, and the number of seats activated.

Revoke the license of an existing device

To revoke the KPE Premium License key of an existing device,

  1. Log in to your Samsung Knox portal and navigate to License Keys > My License Keys.
  2. Click on Device Deactivation under the Devices widget.
  3. Enter the license key value under My Knox Platform for Enterprise License Key.
  4. Select I want to remove devices in this license key.
  5. Upload a CSV file with the IMEI/serial numbers of the devices from which the license key has to be removed. Else, enter the IMEI/serial numbers of the devices, separated by commas, in the box provided.
  6. Click on Submit.

This will revoke the KPE Premium License key of the device. You can now reassign this key to other devices.

Note:

  • If both serial number and IMEI is available for the device, use the IMEI of the device to revoke the license key.
