How to enable Android Kiosk Wi-Fi settings with MDM

The usual case scenario is that, in Kiosk mode, the device will be restricted to a single app or a group of apps (in Android). There will be no way around the Kiosk mode. However, Hexnode MDM goes one step further by providing the user, options to control the Wi-Fi in their devices. This will relieve the admins from configuring different Wi-Fi policies for Android devices.

There are options to:

  • Enable users to turn Wi-Fi on and off
  • Enable users to connect to any available Wi-Fi networks

To do so,

  1. Go to Policies and select Android Settings.
  2. Select Kiosk Mode.
  3. Click Configure and add the apps you want to set as Kiosk.
  4. For enabling the users to turn the Wi-Fi on and off:
    • Select the option Allow Wi-Fi.
    • Click Save.

Here the user will be able to see the network they are connected to and they will be able to turn it on and off.

  5. For enabling the users to select from available Wi-Fi networks:
    • Select the options Show Wi-Fi Networks.
    • Click Save.

Here the user will be able to see all the available Wi-Fi networks and select any of those networks.

Note: If both options are selected, the user will be able to turn the Wi-Fi on and off and also select different networks.
