How to setup an Apple TV Conference Room Display using Hexnode MDM

AppleTV can be used as a Conference room display to easily share the screen of an Airplay supported device without granting the user access to any other function of the AppleTV. When conference room display is turned on, it displays network details along with instructions on how to connect to AppleTV using Airplay.

Prerequisites:

  • An Apple TV with tvOS 10.2 or later
  • Device should be enrolled in Hexnode MDM
  • Device must be supervised
  • Setting up Conference Room Display

    1. Navigate to Policies from your Hexnode MDM portal and create a new policy or update an existing one.
    2. From Policies select tvOS settings.
    3. Select Conference Room Display > Configure and type in a message you would like to display on-screen.setup an apple tv conference room display using hexnode mdm
    4. Navigate to Policy Targets and click on Add Devices to select the target devices.
    5. Click Save.

    The conference display will be applied to the device.

    Exiting from Conference Room Display

    To exit from conference room display mode you need to remove the policy from the device and restart the device.
    To remove a policy from the device,

    • Login to your Hexnode portal.
    • Go to Manage > Devices.
    • Click on the device from which the policy is to be removed.
    • From the Device Summary page, click on Policies subtab and remove the policy by clicking on the trash icon.


    Exceptions:

    • If the policy is associated with a custom device group, then you cannot remove the policy from a specific device. You’ll have to remove the device from the device group.
    • If the policy is associated with a dynamic device group, then you cannot remove the policy from a device.

    • Policy associated via Device Group


    To remove a device from the policy,

    • Login to your Hexnode portal.
    • Go to Policies and select the policy.
    • From Policy Targets, click on Remove to detach the device from the policy.
    • Save the policy.
