Do I have to re-enroll a corporate-owned device after it has changed hands?

No, you don’t have to re-enroll a device to change the owner of the device. Hexnode allows you to change the owner of the device remotely via the Change Owner action.

On the Hexnode MDM console,

  1. Go to Manage > Devices > Click on the device name > Actions > Change Owner.
  2. Select the domain and the new user, you can also delete old user’s location history if you want.
  3. Click on Assign.

The device will now be assigned to a new user.

By applying this action, all the restrictions and configurations associated with the previous owner will be removed, the ones assigned to the new user will be associated with the device. But the device-based policies will be retained even after you change the owner of the device.

If “Remove apps from the device on policy removal” is enabled in the iOS/Android mandatory app policy associated with the old user, these apps will be uninstalled from the device, and the apps associated with the new owner will be installed.
