How to Import Contacts to Devices using Hexnode MDM

Hexnode MDM allows you to import contacts to a device and update the contacts whenever needed. The contact information is stored in VCF format. On exporting the contacts from a device, a VCF file is generated. This VCF file is pushed to the target device with the help of Hexnode MDM thus enabling you to import contacts. This feature is available on Android devices only.

Generating a VCF File

VCF files are used to backup and restore the mobile contacts and other information on your smartphone. Exporting the contacts from your device generates a VCF file. The steps to export contacts from the device are as mentioned below:

  1. Open the Contacts app on your Android device. Hit on the menu button (three-dot icon on the top-right corner). The pop-up that jumps up displays the Import/Export option. Alternatively, choose the Export option.
  2. A pop-up emerges to confirm the export command. Click Yes. The export contact action will be initiated. A notification specifies the completion of the action.

After exporting the contacts, move the VCF file to the system.

Note:

The above-mentioned steps vary in case of different Android devices based on their model and version.
