How to disable or enable kiosk mode on devices instantaneously?

This document explains how to enable and disable kiosk mode on Android and iOS devices using remote actions from the Hexnode console. These remote actions can be performed together for both Android and iOS in bulk without having to do it individually on each platform. With Kiosk mode, you can lock the end user’s devices to a single app or multiple apps of your choice and control them using this remote action.

Enabling and disabling kiosk mode on devices using remote actions

Admins can enable or disable kiosk mode on devices from the Manage tab as mentioned below:

  1. Navigate to the Manage Tab and select the Devices/Device Groups/Users/User Groups on which the kiosk policy is associated.
  2. Click on Actions and under Kiosk, select Enable Kiosk Mode or Disable Kiosk Mode from the drop-down menu.
  3. When you select Disable Kiosk Mode on Android devices, an option called “Auto-enable kiosk mode” will appear on the pop-up. If this option is enabled, kiosk mode will automatically reactivate if it is disabled, whether from the device itself or through the Disable Kiosk Mode action on Hexnode UEM portal. You can also configure an auto-enable interval, allowing the device to return to kiosk mode after a specified duration ranging from 1 to 1440 minutes.

  4. Click on Continue on the pop-up stating, Enable Kiosk mode on Android and iOS devices (Web App Kiosk with Hexnode Browser Lite) devices or Disable Kiosk mode on Android and iOS devices (Web App Kiosk with Hexnode Browser Lite) devices after configuring the required settings.
  5. Enter the technician password and click on Confirm.
  6. The kiosk mode will be enabled/disabled on the selected devices.
Note:

Disabling the kiosk mode using remote action will not remove the kiosk policy that is associated with the device.
