    • Starting Android 11, certain files and folders cannot be displayed in File Explorer sub-tab on the Hexnode portal if storage access is not provided to the Hexnode UEM/Hexnode for Work application.
    • On devices running Android 11+, ‘Manage All Files’ permission is required for the Hexnode UEM app to access device storage.
      • This permission should be granted for the Hexnode UEM app during enrollment.
      • Mange All Files permission on Hexnode UEM app

      • When the Hexnode UEM/Hexnode for Work app is updated, ‘Manage All Files’ permission may not be granted. Hence, to view and manage all files from File Explorer, the user should grant this permission when the Hexnode UEM app prompts while opening the updated app.
      • Alternatively, you can also give ‘All Files Access’ for the Hexnode UEM app from the device settings page.
    • For devices enrolled through the Hexnode UEM app (Device Admin), users will receive a permission prompt when the administrator attempts to access files via File Explorer and the user must grant permission to proceed.

Requesting access from user on device end.

    • Users will also receive a permission prompt when the administrator attempts to download files via File Explorer and the download will proceed only if the user grants permission.

    • For devices enrolled via Android Enterprise – Device Owner, the administrator can access and download files without user interaction.
    • When the “Silently access files on the device” and “Silently download files from the device” options are configured within the Remote Access Management policy under Android > Troubleshooting > Remote Access Management, users will not be prompted for permission when administrators access or download files from the device using the File Explorer in Hexnode. This applies to devices enrolled via the Hexnode UEM app (Device Admin).
