How to clear device media remotely?
The Clear Media action allows IT administrators to remotely delete all photos and videos stored on managed iOS devices. Over time, such media can accumulate and consume valuable storage space, which may affect device performance or lead to privacy concerns if the content remains on corporate devices.
Using this action, IT admins can remotely clear media to reclaim storage and ensure that devices are free of unnecessary or outdated visual content before reassignment or reuse. This removes the need for IT admins to physically access devices for media cleanup, keeping them secure and well-maintained.
Steps to clear device media remotely from Hexnode UEM
- Log in to your Hexnode UEM portal.
- Go to the Manage > Devices and click on the required device/devices.
- On the top-right part of the device details page, click on the Actions button.
- From the dropdown menu, go to Others and select Clear Media.
- Click on Clear Data from the pop-up window and finally enter your password.
What happens at the device end?
Once the Clear Media action is executed, the device receives a prompt through the Hexnode UEM app asking the user to confirm media deletion. This confirmation ensures that no data is erased without user consent, maintaining transparency and control. After approval, all the photos and videos stored in the Photos app are deleted from the device and moved to the Recently Deleted folder.
