Execute Custom script on Zebra Link-OS Printer
Have you ever struggled with the repetitive process of configuring or troubleshooting Zebra printers manually, one step at a time? This approach can be slow, error‑prone, and inefficient, especially when the same tasks need to be repeated across multiple devices.
To address these challenges, Hexnode UEM allows IT admins to execute custom scripts on Zebra Printers remotely. A custom script is a file containing a sequence of user‑defined commands or instructions, created to carry out operations. The printer script can handle each task such as updating firmware, adjusting printer settings, collecting logs, or running diagnostics.
How to execute custom scripts on Zebra Printers?
- Log in to your Hexnode portal, navigate to Manage > Devices.
- Click on the Zebra Printer you need to deploy scripts.
- Click Actions > Deployments> Execute Custom Script.
- Specify the below parameters to execute the script on that device:
- Click the Execute button to confirm your action.
- Navigate to the Action History sub-tab to view the execution status of the script. You can see the output details by clicking on the Show Output button corresponding to the execution status of that script.
| Options | Description |
|---|---|
| Choose script file source | You may choose the script file either by uploading it or selecting it from the Hexnode repository if the file is already added to Content > My Files. You can also generate a script with the help of Hexnode Genie. |
| File name | The file name will be auto populated based on the uploaded script or the script chosen from the Hexnode repository. |
The script will execute and handle the designated operations on the Zebra printer automatically.
