Remote file management: Deploy and remove files
Remote file management enables administrators to efficiently handle files across a fleet of devices without requiring physical access. It is centered around a Content repository maintained in the Hexnode console, which acts as the primary storage location for all managed files.
Hexnode simplifies file management by providing two core actions: Deploy File and Remove File.
- The Deploy File action allows you to add files to target devices. You have the flexibility to either add files directly from the central repository or upload them while executing the action.
- Conversely, the Remove File action enables you to delete files from devices, ensuring that your endpoints remain clean and compliant.
This powerful combination of a centralized repository and flexible deployment options streamlines file distribution and maintenance, enhancing your control and security over all your managed devices.

Deploy files to managed devices
To deploy file remotely from the Hexnode console:
- Log in to the Hexnode console.
- Navigate to Manage > Devices.
- Choose the device.
- Go to Actions > Others > Deploy File.
- Enter the location on the device where you want the file to be deployed.
- Upload the file either from your device or the Hexnode repository. You can upload multiple files.
- Click Add.
When the Deploy File action is executed, the file is added to the specified location on the device.
- On devices enrolled via Android Enterprise – Profile Owner, the file is uploaded to Internal storage > Hexnode > Files.
- On macOS devices, if the specified file path is invalid, the file will be automatically saved to Library > Application Support > HexnodeMDM > Downloads.
