How to adjust volume on Chromebooks using Hexnode UEM?

Adjusting the volume on Chromebooks remotely helps IT admins provide a consistent user experience across managed devices. It is especially beneficial in kiosk locked-down environments where users will not be able to adjust volume settings themselves. So, it’s up to IT admins to ensure audio levels are appropriate and consistent across the ChromeOS devices.

With Hexnode UEM, organizations can remotely set volume levels on ChromeOS devices locked in kiosk mode.

Pre-requisite:

The ChromeOS device must be in kiosk mode.

Setting volume in ChromeOS devices

Here’s how you can set the volume in ChromeOS devices remotely though Hexnode UEM.

  1. Log in to your Hexnode UEM portal.
  2. Go to the Manage > Devices and click on the required ChromeOS device.
  3. On the top-right part of the device details page, click on the Actions button.
  4. From the dropdown menu, select Set Volume.
  5. In the pop-up window that appears, enter the desired volume level (between 0 and 100).
  6. Then, click on Set Volume.
Note:

The Set Volume action may continue to work on some ChromeOS devices even after they are no longer in kiosk mode, provided the device had previously been enrolled in kiosk mode at least once.
