1. Do the devices have to be factory reset to be enrolled and managed by UEM?

No, devices need not be factory reset (except for Android Enterprise Device Owner enrollment and enrollment using Apple Configurator) to be enrolled and managed by UEM.

2. Is Apple Enterprise/Developer account necessary to manage iOS devices in Hexnode?

No, managing iOS devices using Hexnode does not require an Apple Enterprise/Developer account.

3. How much network data does the Hexnode UEM app consume?

Hexnode UEM app primarily consumes network data only to install apps, remotely control and view devices, and transfer files deployed via the Hexnode UEM. The amount of consumed data depends on the size of the app or files deployed, or the quality setting of the remote view session. Only a negligible amount of data is used for other actions.

4. Which operating systems are supported by Hexnode UEM?

Hexnode UEM supports devices under the following OS platforms:

  • iPhones running iOS 11 or later versions.
  • iPads running iOS 11.0 or later or iPadOS 13.1 or later versions.
  • Smartphones and TVs running Android 5.0 or later versions.
  • Windows tablets and PCs running Windows 10 or later versions.
  • macOS devices running macOS 10.7 and later versions.
  • Apple TVs running tvOS 9.0 or later versions.
  • Fire OS devices running Fire OS 4.1 and later versions.
  • Linux devices, including Fedora 36+, Ubuntu 18.04+, Debian 10+ and MintOS 21+.
  • ChromeOS devices.
  • visionOS devices running visionOS 1.1 and later.

5. Which devices support the Remote Control feature in Hexnode?

Hexnode’s ‘Remote Control’ feature is supported on the following devices:

  • Android devices: Android 5.1+ (Android 7.0+ recommended) having the latest version of the Hexnode UEM/Hexnode for Work app.
  • Windows PCs: Windows 10/11 devices enrolled via the Hexnode installer and running the latest versions of Hexnode UEM and Hexnode Remote Assist apps.
  • Linux devices: Debian, Fedora, and Mint-based distributions with Hexnode Agent version 2.8.7 or above. Remote Control is limited to the x11 display manager.
  • macOS devices: macOS 10.12+ with the latest Hexnode UEM app installed.

It enables IT administrators to view, monitor, and control the screen of the devices in real time. The admin can virtually tap on the screen by using point-and-click navigation. Remote control sessions can be established to troubleshoot issues reported by users and solve them over-the-air instantly.

6. Does Hexnode have a limit on the number of devices it can support on the server?

The maximum number of devices that can be enrolled in a Hexnode server depends on the number of device licenses you have purchased during the UEM subscription. Say, if you have purchased 1000 devices, your Hexnode server can have up to 1000 enrolled devices at a time. However, during the trial period, the server can only have a maximum of 100 devices enrolled in it at a time.

7. Does Hexnode provide support for kiosk modes?

Yes, Hexnode supports various kiosk modes, including single-app, multi-app, and website kiosks, depending on the device platform.

8. Does Hexnode support BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policies?

Hexnode offers a flexible approach to BYOD, allowing organizations to manage personal devices securely without compromising user privacy, using features like containerization.

9. Is location tracking and geofencing supported on Hexnode?

Hexnode includes location tracking features such as Scan Device Location action, that allow administrators to view device locations in real time. It also supports geofencing, enabling organizations to enforce policies or trigger alerts when devices enter or leave defined geographic areas.
