1. Turn a Single Device Off
- Log in to the Hexnode portal.
- Navigate to the Manage tab.
- Click on the specific device name to open its details page.
- Select Actions > Device Control > Power Off Device.
- In the confirmation dialog, click Power Off.
2. Power Off Devices in Bulk
- Navigate to Manage > Devices.
- Check the boxes next to the required devices.
- Select Actions > Device Control > Power Off Device.
- For Linux devices, you may check Force shut down to immediately terminate all running processes.
- Click Power Off.
What Happens at the Device End?
Once the command is received via a network connection, the device initiates the shutdown sequence.
- Instant Execution: Most mobile devices power off immediately upon receiving the command.
- Delayed Shutdown: macOS and Linux devices typically complete the shutdown process within 5–10 minutes of the action being applied.
- Cancellation: If the device is offline, the action can be stopped by navigating to the Action History tab and clicking Cancel.

Will the user be prompted to save their work before the device turns off?
No. The Power Off Device action is executed immediately without any user interaction or confirmation prompts. All unsaved work on the device will be lost.
Can the device be turned back on remotely?
No. For security and hardware reasons, a device that has been completely powered off cannot be restarted remotely via Hexnode UEM. It must be turned on manually by a user.
Is the “Force shut down” option available for all platforms?
No. The Force shut down checkbox, which terminates all running processes immediately, is specifically available for Linux (Debian, Fedora, and Ubuntu) devices.
What happens if “Cancel” is clicked in the Action History?
If the device has not yet received the command (e.g., it is currently offline), clicking Cancel will stop the action. The status will update to Cancelled, and the device will not power off when it next connects to the internet.
