How to Set Up tvOS Global HTTP Proxy

Set a global HTTP proxy to ensure that all network traffic between the supervised Apple TVs and the internet flows through a secure proxy server. This protects the tvOS devices from security attacks from external sources. To remotely apply HTTP proxy globally configurations on Apple TVs through Hexnode UEM, you need to be subscribed to Enterprise or Ultimate plans.

Note:

Works on tvOS 10.2+.

To get proxy configured globally,
  1. Select Policies from Hexnode console
  2. Click on New Policy to create a new policy, or continue with an existing policy.
  3. Go to Apple TV and configure Global HTTP Proxy.

Associating the Global HTTP Proxy Policy with Apple TV

If you haven’t saved the policy yet, you can

  1. Go to Policy Targets > Devices.
  2. To add devices, search for and select Apple TVs with which the policy needs to be associated.
  3. Click OK.

You can associate the Global HTTP Proxy policy with other target entities such as users, user/device groups and domains from the same pane. You can even add more associations after saving the policy by returning to the same pane without affecting the previous selections.

If you have saved the policy and is taken out of the policy configuration page,

  1. From the “Policies” page, select a policy.
  2. Select Associate Targets from the Manage dropdown.
  3. Add the tvOS devies to get the policy associated.
