Pre-configure app settings for ChromeOS devices

As organizations expand and the number of devices in use increases, the need to efficiently manage and configure applications becomes even more crucial. What once may have been a simple task becomes a complex challenge as scaling operations requires consistent deployment of correctly configured apps across a larger device fleet. Given the increasing complexity of app configurations, relying on manual setups is no longer viable.

With Hexnode’s App Configurations policy, IT admins can remotely pre-configure specific app settings to align with their organization’s needs. This ensures that apps are properly set up and ready for use as soon as they are deployed to managed devices, streamlining the app management process.

This document will guide you through configuring app settings on ChromeOS devices.

Set up app configurations

  1. On your Hexnode UEM console, navigate to the Policies tab.
  2. Create a new policy or select an existing policy. Provide a name and description (optional).
  3. From ChromeOS > App Management, select App Configurations.
  4. Click on Configure and +Add new configuration button to select an app and configure it.
  5. Select Enterprise App or Managed Google Play app, depending on the type of app you want to configure.
  6. Click on the Select button to choose the app to configure.
  7. The app configuration screen is displayed. Configure the available options and hit Done.

  9. After configuring the app, click Save.

App configurations can vary significantly depending on the app. While it’s not possible to cover every configuration here, the following examples will help demonstrate how these settings differ from one app to another.
