Getting Started with Automation

Automation is one of the robust features in an MDM that will help you manage your devices with ease. With automation, you can reduce the time and effort you put into making things happen in your device management solution. Hexnode offers a range of automated features ranging from device enrollment to report scheduling.

Dynamic Groups

Unlike custom device groups, the movement of devices in and out of the dynamic device group is based on certain criteria. For example, consider a dynamic group of all compliant devices. All these devices that satisfy the criteria will get automatically added to the group. If any of those member devices lose compliance, they will be removed from the group in the next sync. This sufficiency of minimal manual effort makes dynamic grouping more desirable than manual grouping.

Merits

  • Automatic sorting of devices to groups.
  • Automatic association of policies based on specified criteria.

Automated no-touch enrollment for Android

Android devices can be onboarded into Hexnode UEM via a number of enrollment techniques. The following three enrollment methods demand no physical assistance from the IT managers or end-users to complete the enrollment procedure. These include Android Zero-Touch enrollment, Samsung Knox mobile enrollment and Android ROM/OEM enrollment. By employing any of the above-mentioned enrollment techniques, you can ensure no-touch device provisioning and near-zero enrollment support queries.

Pre-approved enrollment

You can enroll your Android, iOS, macOS and Apple TV devices in Hexnode via the pre-approved enrollment. Unlike the normal device enrollment, pre-approved enrollment enables you to list the devices in the Hexnode portal before provisioning the device to the Hexnode portal. Pre-approving devices enable you to attach pre-configured policies to those devices. This ensures that the policies will get associated with devices immediately after they rollout without any further setup delay.

Note:

Pre-approved enrollment is not an automated enrollment procedure. But once enrolled, the policies automatically take effect on the devices. You have to follow the iOS, Android, macOS or Apple TV enrollment procedure to complete the enrollment process.

Any Android, iOS, macOS or Apple TV devices can be pre-approved in Hexnode irrespective of the enrollment method forecasted for device provisioning. This is by importing a CSV file with the device details in Hexode.

Additionally, Apple devices that are expected to be enrolled in Hexnode via the Apple Device Enrollment Program can also be conceived as pre-approved.
