How to set up an Apple TV Conference Room Display

Apple TV can be used as a Conference room display to easily share the screen of an Airplay-supported device without granting the user access to any other function of the AppleTV. When the conference room display is turned on, it displays network details along with instructions on how to connect to AppleTV using Airplay.

Notes:

  • An Apple TV with tvOS 10.2 or later.
  • The device should be enrolled in Hexnode.
  • The device must be supervised.
  • This feature is available on Enterprise, Ultimate, and Ultra pricing plans.

Setting up Conference Room Display

  1. Navigate to Policies from your Hexnode portal and create a New Policy > New Blank Policy or update an existing one.
  2. From AppleTV, select Conference Room Display
  3. Click on Configure and type in a message you would like to display on-screen.

  4. Navigate to Policy Targets and click on Add Devices to select the target devices.
  5. Click Save.

The conference display will be applied to the device.

Exiting from Conference Room Display

To exit from conference room display mode you need to remove the policy from the device and restart the device.
To remove a policy from the device,

  1. Log in to your Hexnode UEM portal.
  2. Go to Manage > Devices.
  3. Click on the device from which the policy is to be removed.
  4. Click on the Policies subtab and remove the policy by clicking on the trash icon.



Exceptions:

  • If the policy is associated with a custom device group, then you cannot remove the policy from a specific device. You’ll have to remove the device from the device group.
  • If the policy is associated with a dynamic device group, then you cannot remove the policy from a device.

To remove a device from the policy,
  1. Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
  2. Go to Policies and select the policy.
  3. From Policy Targets, click on remove to detach the device from the policy.
  4. Save the policy.
