Wi-Fi switching option grayed out in Android Kiosk mode. Am I missing something?Solved

Hi everyone,

We’re managing a few Android devices in Multi-App Kiosk Mode, and I noticed something odd while configuring the policy.

In Peripheral Settings, the option that allows users to manage Wi-Fi settings is grayed out, so users can’t manually switch networks on the device. This becomes a bit of an issue when the device struggles to roam between different access points.

I tried editing the policy and even cloning it, but the option still stays disabled.

Has anyone run into something like this before?

Yeah, situations like this can be pretty frustrating.

I’ve had a few cases where a setting just stays locked and it’s not immediately clear what’s causing it. Usually, it turns out that some other restriction in the policy is controlling it in the background.

Hello @lucaas ,

This usually happens when the Force Wi-Fi restriction is enabled.

When this restriction is turned on, the device is required to remain connected to Wi-Fi and users cannot modify Wi-Fi settings manually. Because of this dependency, the Connect to and switch between saved Wi-Fi networks setting and its suboptions under Peripheral Settings become grayed out in the policy configuration.

If you want users to manually switch Wi-Fi networks on the device:

1. First, check whether the Force Wi-Fi option under Advanced Restrictions is enabled.

2. If enabled, disable it.

After disabling it, the Wi-Fi management settings in Peripheral Settings should become selectable again.

Thanks for explaining that. But, if we turn off Force Wi-Fi, will it affect the managed Wi-Fi profiles that are already pushed to the devices?

No, @melora .

Disabling Force Wi-Fi will not remove or change the managed Wi-Fi profiles that are already configured in the policy. Those networks will still be available on the device.
