Why does MacOS show profile installation failed during Hexnode re‑enrollment?Solved

Hi all,

I factory reset a MacOS device that was previously enrolled in Hexnode and removed it from all management platforms. Now, when I try to re-enroll, I keep getting the error “Profile installation failed. The network connection was lost.” The network is fine, so I’m not sure what’s going wrong. The device was never in Apple Business Manager. Any suggestions?

BroI think you just go in and swap the names, right? Like, delete older name and then add the new guy. Easy peasy!

Not exactly. The process requires navigating to Admin > Technicians and Roles. From there, you must delete the existing technician before adding a replacement. It’s not simply a name swap.

Although the device may appear connected, brief or unstable network interruptions can disrupt the enrollment process. That’s usually when the “Profile installation failed. The network connection was lost.” error arises. A quick workaround would be to retry enrollment using a mobile hotspot which will allow the process to complete successfully.
