It is so annoying to have to use 2FA for actions that require password verification when we’re already logged in to Hexnode. At least enable use of the Authenticator app we use to sign in so we’re not getting a ton of 2FA emails.
Turn off 2FA for actions that require password when we are already logged inSolved

Hi bryang,
Thank you for reaching out.
We understand that being prompted for 2FA on certain actions even when you’re already logged in can be frustrating. At the moment, email verification is the only option available for crucial actions that require password re-authentication.
We’ll raise this feedback with our team for further evaluation.

We have over 1000 mobile devices and are constantly refreshing inventory, so having to wait for 2 emails, one for wipe and one for disenroll, every time we decommission 10 or more devices is extremely counterproductive. This needs to get fixed.
Hi @bryang,
We understand this can slow things down when you’re managing a large number of devices. We’ll bring this up with our team and see what can be done to improve it.
Thanks for pointing it out.

Has this been fixed? I can not find a way to turn this off, and it is so frustrating I won’t use the program if I have to deal with this for every change I make.
@iBarbieJr This has not been fixed. It’s extremely frustrating. And they still haven’t enabled the use of an authenticator app for this process, even though we can use an authenticator app to log in. We have to wait for an email with the 2FA code.
Hi @ibarbiejr and @bryang,
Thank you for reaching out.
We apologise for the frustration this has caused and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
You can now use the Authenticator app you configured for the portal and use the 2FA codes from it to perform actions instead of relying on emails. To configure the authenticator if it’s not already set up, follow the steps below.
- Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
- Click on the profile picture of your account at the top right corner of the Hexnode portal and select My Profile.
- On the My Profile page, click Edit Information.
- Under the Details section, go to Two Factor Authentication.
- Check the box for Add Authenticator App, then follow the on-screen instructions.
- Click Save once done.
If the authenticator app is already configured and you are still receiving 2FA codes via email, please click on “Reconfigure Authenticator App” from the “My Profile” page after clicking “Edit Information” and continue from step 5.

I hope this is much better than the email. Thank you so much for the reply. Hexnode is still my favorite program to manage all our devices.
@john_cooper I don’t think that’s correct. I have an Authenticator App set up for logging in and have been using it for a while. However, when performing actions like wiping a device or disenrolling a device, Hexnode requires 2FA and doesn’t allow for using the Authenticator App. It only sends emails.
Hi @bryang,
Thank you for pointing this out. That is not the expected behaviour. If you already have the Authenticator app configured, it should work for these actions as well. We will check and confirm whether the update has been applied to your portal.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will get back to you shortly with more details.

@john_cooper I tried “Reconfigure Authenticator App” and email authentication is still the only option when performing actions like Wipe and Disenroll.
Please fix this. It’s extremely frustrating to have to use 2FA for password-required actions when we are already logged in to Hexnode. If you can’t fix that, at least allow us to use an authenticator app for those actions.
Hi @bryang,
We’ve updated your portal to the latest version. Could you please check again and verify whether the Authenticator app is now available as an option for critical actions like Wipe device or Disenroll device?
If you’re still experiencing the same issue after this update, let us know and we’ll investigate further.

@edenpierce Thank-you! That fixed it.
