Hey everyone,

I just got a notification that our APNs certificate is about to expireI’m a bit unsure about the exact renewal process. Do I need to generate a new certificate from scratch, or is there a way to just renew the existing one? Also, how do I make sure I’m matching the right certificate in the Hexnode portal with the one in the Apple Push Certificates portal?

Any guidance would be appreciated.. don’t really wanna mess this up and lose device management.

Yeah, that can be confusing the first time. I remember panicking when I saw the expiration notice. If you renew the wrong certificate, devices can lose connection, so it’s important to match them correctly. I usually check the serial number and unique ID to be sure.

Same here. I once uploaded the wrong cert and had to re-enroll a bunch of devices, not fun. Best tip: always cross-check the certificate details in both portals before you start the renewal. Saves a lot of headaches.

Thank you all for sharing your inputs.

To renew your APNs certificate, please follow these steps:

  1. First, match the certificate using the serial number and unique ID in both the Hexnode Portal and the Apple Push Certificates Portal. This ensures you’re renewing the correct one.

  1. Download the CSR (Certificate Signing Request) from the Hexnode portal.

  1. Upload the CSR to the Apple Push Certificates Portal to renew the certificate.

  1. Once renewed, download the new certificate and re-upload it back into the Hexnode portal.

If you run into any issues during renewal, please don’t hesitate to reach out ,we’ll be happy to assist further.

Thanks  @mary_romero , that clears it up. I used to think you had to generate a brand-new certificate every year, but renewal is way simpler once you know the steps.

Totally agree. I actually set a calendar reminder a couple of weeks before expiration now. Saves me from scrambling last minute.
