On a Mac it’s chill. Hexnode just yanks off the MDM profiles and policies. Your local accounts and personal stuff stay put. Apps? Depends on the policy ,if the admin set it to keep them then its still gonna be there. If not, poof, gone.

I feel on a Windows Autopilot, it’s a bit stricter. Once you disenroll, the Entra ID  link breaks.

Thank you all for your valuable input. When a macOS device is disenrolled from Hexnode, the Mobile Device Management (MDM) profile and all associated configurations such as security policies, restrictions, and network settings are removed, but local user accounts and personal data remain intact; application behaviour depends on the policy configuration, with managed apps either retained or automatically removed based on the “retain apps on disenroll” setting.

In contrast, disenrolling a Windows Autopilot device severs its binding to Microsoft Entra ID, eliminating the ability to authenticate with Entra credentials and disconnecting the device from organizational management; while local accounts remain unaffected and accessible, re-establishing enterprise connectivity requires manual re-enrollment to restore Entra ID trust and reapply management policies.

Basically, when you pull a Mac outta Hexnode, it’s like ‘no stress, mate’ because the management stuff gets stripped off, but your files and local accounts are still safe. Windows though? That’s more like ‘you’re outta the club!’.
