Remote view requires user confirmation on some Android devicesSolved

Whenever we try to start a remote view session on one of our Android devices, the user has to manually approve the connection on the device.

However, we’re able to remotely access some of our other devices without any confirmation from the user. Is there a setting we might have missed that allows unattended remote view?

The behavior usually depends on the enrollment type of the Android device.

Could you check the following in the Hexnode portal?

  1.  Navigate to Manage > Devices.

  1. Select the device in question.

  1. Go to Device Summary.

  1. Under Hardware Infolocate Enterprise Management Type.

Let us know what enrollment type is displayed there.

I checked one of the devices where we need to approve the connection every time. The Enterprise Management Type shows Generic Android.

That explains the behavior.

Devices enrolled as Generic Android require user permission each time a remote view or remote control session is initiated. This is a platform limitation for that enrollment type.

The devices where you’re able to start remote sessions without user interaction are most likely enrolled as Device Owner.

You can verify this by checking the same field:

Manage > Devices > Select device > Device Summary > Hardware Info > Enterprise Management Type

If the device is enrolled as Device Owner, Hexnode can initiate unattended remote view and control sessions without requiring user approval on the device.

Got it. I checked a couple of the other devices we manage, and they do show Device Owner as the management type. That explains why remote sessions work differently across our devices.
