We are managing a fleet of iOS devices in an enterprise environment where eSIM profiles are pushed remotely for carrier activation. For the past several months, we have consistently seen the eSIM update command fail across devices. This has impacted our ability to provision connectivity for users without manual intervention. We would like to understand if there are any known requirements or constraints around the eSIM update workflow on iOS that could be causing this issue.

Hello.

Thank you for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.

In most cases where the eSIM update command fails on iOS, the issue is related to the Apple provisioning URL format used for eSIM activation. For the eSIM to activate successfully, the URL must include both the SM-DP+ address and the activation code. If either of these components is missing or incorrectly formatted, the device may return an invalid URL error and fail to proceed with activation.

Please ensure that the provisioning URL follows the Apple-required format shown below:

Reference Format:

https://esimsetup.apple.com/esim_qrcode_provisioning?carddata=LPA:1$'SM-DP+ Address'$'Activation Code'

This format has been validated and is required for proper eSIM activation on iOS devices. Kindly update the URL accordingly and retry the command. If the issue persists after using the correct format, please let us know so we can investigate further.

Best Regards,
George
