Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Hexnode Connect. I’ll walk you through the steps of deploying ESET Endpoint products via Hexnode.

Before proceeding, ensure your Windows device is enrolled in Hexnode UEM and that you have a valid ESET account with the required subscription.

Deployment Steps:

  1. Download the Endpoint products based upon your system requirements from the ESET Business portal.
    1. Login to your ESET Business portal.
    2. On the Dashboard, click on the Activated devices option on the left panel. If this is the first time deploying ESET Endpoint products to the devices, you will see a link to the ESET website for downloading the installation files based on the system requirements.
Click on the link to redirect to the webpage to download the ESET products
    3. Upon clicking on the link, you will be redirected to a webpage where you can choose your preferred method of installation.
    4. Select the Download and install products manually option, as it will allow you to download an MSI or EXE file for the products to deploy. Choose MSI as the file type, as it can be deployed using Hexnode’s Required Apps policy.
Customize the product as per your system requirement to deploy it using Hexnode UEM
    5. Select the ESET Endpoint Security for Windows and ESET Endpoint Antivirus for Windows options and click on the DOWNLOAD NOW button adjacent to the respective products.
    6. Now select Windows Installer as the Installer Type, to generate an MSI file of the products and customize your remaining preferences based on your operating systems. Click DOWNLOAD.
  2. Uploading ESET Endpoint products to Hexnode’s app inventory.
    1. Login to the Hexnode UEM portal.
    2. To upload the downloaded MSI apps to Hexnode’s app inventory, navigate to the Apps tab, click on the +Add Apps dropdown, and select Enterprise App.
    3. Select Windows, enter the application’s required details, and upload the MSI file.
    4. Click on Add.
  3. Deploying ESET Endpoint products through Hexnode UEM.
    1. Navigate to Policies > Device Policies > New Policy. Select to create a New policy, choose Windows, and click Next.
    2. Choose the policy type as Enterprise and click Next.
    3. Give a Policy Name and Description (optional) of your preference and select App Management > Required Apps and click on Configure.
    4. Click on +Add > Add App and select the ESET Endpoint Security/ESET Endpoint Antivirus MSI files, click Done.
    5. Click on Configure under Installation Settings of the respective application and select Add command line parameters option.
    6. On the text field adjacent to the Specify the parameters option, enter the 20-digit alphanumeric license key number in the following format: ACTIVATION_DATA=key:XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

    7. Click Save.
    8. Associate the policy with your Windows devices by navigating to Policy Targets, selecting all your required devices, and clicking on Save.

Steps to be completed from the device

After associating the policy with the device, the ESET Endpoint products start downloading on the device. Once they are installed, the system will display a message to restart the device. Click Restart now.
Restart the Windows device to activate the ESET Endpoint Security products

After the system boots up, open the application to check the status of product activation. You can notice a “You are protected” message showing up under the Protection status tab on the left panel, indicating that the ESET product is activated and running successfully on the device.

Verify product activation

To verify which devices have the ESET Endpoint product activated, log in to the ESET Business portal and navigate to the Activated devices section. This view lists all devices where activation has occurred using your license key.
