I am working on a new project and I’ve only ever set up my phone manually before, so this whole “enrollment” process is new to me. They mentioned something about using a QR code to get my Android device enrolledCould you guide me on this?

Of course, I’ll assist you with that. Before we proceed, could you confirm whether you want to enroll the device as a Generic enrollment or under Enterprise enrollment? Before we proceed, could you confirm your choice of enrollment method?

In Hexnode, Android Enterprise (AE) enrollment provides comprehensive, Google-approved management of device and work profile ownership. It gives you enhanced app control and stronger security.

On the other hand, Generic enrollment (Legacy Device Admin) offers only basic, broad policies. It’s deprecated by Android and less secure compared to AE. For modern, detailed, and secure Android device management, AE enrollment is the recommended option.

Thanks for clarifying the difference. Enterprise enrollment sounds like exactly what I need.

Perfect, Enterprise enrollment it is. To proceedwe’ll need to factory reset the device first. After that, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Hexnode UEM portal.

  1. Click on Enroll.

  1. Select the platform as Android Enterprise and then click on Configure.

  1. Choose the option for a Managed domain and follow the prompts.

  1. Once completed, a QR code will be displayed.

If you want to enroll the device and assign a device owner from the same page:

  • Go to the second sub-tab called Enrollment Profile.

  • Select the device configuration as Device Owner.

  • Reset the device.

  • When the start screen appears, tap the screen six times while the start logo is displayed. This will bring up the QR code scanner.

  • Scan the QR code from your browser, and the device will be enrolled in Hexnode.

For more detailed information, kindly refer: How to Enroll Android Devices as Device Owner via Hexnode UEM

Please note that after the reset, tap the screen six times during the start logoThat’s when the QR scanner will appear, allowing you to complete the enrollment.
