Can we embed the local user password in the QR code, so users don’t have to type it?Solved

If we onboard users using local user for Android/iOS through email, does the user just need to scan the QR code, or will they have to enter their pre-assigned password as well? Is there a way to embed the user’s local credentials into their respective QR code to make the onboarding easier and less interactive?

Hi @douglas

Thank you for reaching out!

Whether the user has to enter a password after scanning the QR code depends on if you have configured authenticated enrollment or open enrollment under Enroll > Settings. If no authentication is set for the enrollment, the user does not need to enter any credentials. However, if you have enabled ‘Authenticated Enrollment‘, the user must typically scan the QR code and then enter their assigned password for security verification.

For security and privacy reasons, Hexnode does not support embedding local user credentials directly into the QR code. This ensures that if an enrollment email is ever intercepted, the device cannot be fully compromised without the user’s unique credentials.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
