Apple DEP not syncing. New devices just won’t enroll!Solved

Hi all, 

I’m running into an issue with Apple DEP in Hexnode. When I sync the ADE account, no devices appear, and new devices don’t trigger enrollment. 

Has anyone faced this before? Any tips would be appreciated!

Hi @haniel, 

Thanks for reaching out! DEP/ADE sync issues are usually caused by a few common factors. Could you please check the following and let us know what you find? 

  1. ADE token status – is the token expired or invalid? Tokens need to be renewed annually. 

  1. Apple Business Manager terms – are there any pending terms that need to be accepted? 

  1. Enrollment profile assignment – is an ADE Enrollment Profile assigned to the devices? 

  1. Device state – are the devices already configured, or do they need a factory reset for ADE to trigger? 

Once you’ve checked these, we can guide you on the next steps.

Thanks for the guidance, @isabel_lora! I just checked the ADE account in Hexnode, and it looks like the token has expired. 

How do I renew it properly so DEP starts syncing again?

Here’s how you can renew the ADE token: 

  1. Log in to Apple Business Manager. 

  1. Click your name (bottom leftand go to Preferences. 

  1. Under Your MDM Servers, select the Hexnode server. 

  1. Click on Download Token. A prompt Downloading a new server token will reset your existing one will be displayed. Click Download server token. 

  1. In the Hexnode UEM portal, go to Admin > Apple Business/School Manager > Automated Device Enrollment > Accounts 

  1. Hover over the server name > click Edit icon. 

  1. On the “Edit ADE Account” click Choose file next to Upload TokenSelect the new token and click Save 

  1. Click the Sync icon againDevices should now appear and the status should show Success.

Thanks! I followed the steps and uploaded the new token. Sync is now showing success, and the devices are appearing!

Hey Isabel. But how long the ADE/DEP token remains valid? I want to make sure I renew it on time.

Hi @sebastian. 

The ADE/DEP token downloaded from Apple Business Manager is valid for 1 year from the date of download. Once it expires, syncing devices and automatic enrollment will stop until a new token is uploaded to Hexnode UEM.
