We have seriously amped up visionOS with a bunch of new restriction controls, now split into Basic and Advanced categories. That means way more power to manage your devices and apps just how you want.

What’s new with Basic restrictions?

  1. Under Allow Device Functionality:

Controls access to core features like the camera, FaceTime, screen capture, and Siri.

  2. Under Allow Application Settings:

Manage app-related behavior, such as whether users can install apps, trust enterprise apps, sync managed app data with iCloud, or use Safari autofill.

  3. Under Allow iCloud Settings:

Enable or disable iCloud services like backup, document sync, iCloud Photos, iCloud Keychain, and Private Relay for managed devices.

  4. Under Allow Security and Privacy Settings:

Configure privacy-related features such as Apple personalized ads, and diagnostic data sharing with Apple.

And the Advanced stuff? Even cooler.

  1. Under Allow Device Functionality:

Restrict or allow system features such as AirDrop, Optic ID configuration, installing configuration profiles, Handoff, and access to network drives within the Files app, modify diagnostic data submission settings, restrict connections to only MDM-configured Wi-Fi networks, and create VPN configurations.

  2. Under Allow App Settings:

Manage app installation from the App Store and remove system apps.

  3. Under Allow Security and Privacy Settings:

Control account modifications, erase content and settings, adjust Restrictions/Screen Time, modify passcodes, change device name, manage user ability to turn notifications on or off, force automatic date and time, autofill passwords, control password autofill with authentication requirements, share passwords via AirDrop Passwords, and ensuring voice processing for “talk only” happens entirely on-device.

And that’s it for this time! Customize your visionOS experience with these powerful new restrictions. For a detailed overview, please refer to our help documentation on visionOS restrictions.
