Guys, I’m messing around with the Hexnode kiosk settings for some Android OS running tablets I’d bought. I see this option for “Tap & Swipe gesture“ in the Peripheral settings for Android kiosk in the Hexnode portal. It says I have to tap 3 times and swipe down to open settings? Why wouldn’t I just use the “Floating Icon” option? It puts a button right on the screen. Seems way easier.

Bro, do NOT use the floating icon if these are for customers. I made that mistake. I put a kiosk-activated tablet in my waiting room, and people kept pressing the settings button just because it was there. They turned off the Wi-Fi by accident and then complained the internet was broken. It was a mess. The swipe thing is hidden so only you know how to do it.
Yeah, same here. I use my tablets just to display the menu prices. The floating icon looks ugly sitting on top of my menu pictures. It just floats there and blocks the text. The swipe gesture is better because the screen looks clean, but if the internet dies, I can still do the secret hand gesture to fix it without restarting the whole thing.
Ohhh, so basically when I disable the floating icon setting option, I will still be able to access the settings even when the button becomes invisible?
Exactly. It’s like a secret handshake for the admin.
It’s a lifesaver for kids too. If the settings button is visible, they WILL press it. Then they start messing with the volume or brightness. The “Tap 3 times and swipe” is too hard for them to do by accident, so they stay stuck in the app where they belong.
