Ever worried about unauthorized users accessing macOS devices through recovery mode or booting from external drives? Hexnode now makes it easy to enforce hardware-level security across all your devices.

With the new Firmware/Recovery Lock Remote Actions, IT admins can:

  • Set Firmware/Recovery Lock Password: Remotely configure passwords on Intel-based (firmware) or Apple silicon (recovery lock) macOS devices.
  • Verify Firmware Password: Check if an Intel-based macOS device firmware password matches the one configured via Hexnode.
  • Clear Firmware/Recovery Lock Password: Removes the firmware or recovery lock password from devices.

These actions ensure that only authorized users can modify startup disks or access recovery options, while passwords are escrowed safely in the Hexnode portal. Administrators can apply these actions to a single device or multiple devices at once, making it easier to maintain consistent security across the organization.
