Hey all, I have a quick question. If I wipe my Apple device, will it delete all data but still keep it enrolled in Hexnode?

Good question. If the device is enrolled directly in Hexnode, wiping it will remove the enrollment. But if it’s enrolled through Apple Business Manager, the device will automatically re-enroll in Hexnode after the wipe.

Think of ABM like a safety net. If your device is linked through ABM, you can wipe it clean and Hexnode will catch it right back. Without ABM, wiping kicks it out of Hexnode.

Wait, are we certain? I thought wiping always removes management profiles. Unless ABM is involved, wouldn’t you have to manually re-enroll afterward?

Thank you all for the valuable input.

To summarize clearly: Wiping an Apple device enrolled via Hexnode will indeed disenroll it unless the enrollment was done through Apple Business Manager. Devices enrolled via ABM are designed to automatically re-enroll in Hexnode after a wipe. Since the goal here is to delete all data while keeping the device enrolled, wiping is indeed the recommended approach, as ABM ensures seamless re-enrollment post-wipe.
