Hi everyone,
I’m testing a FileVault policy where I’ve allowed 1 skip attempt, but on two macOS devices, users are not getting any option to skip encryption during the first login.
Has anyone faced this before?

Hi @lucaas, I haven’t seen this exact case with 1 skip attempt, but I’ve had situations where changing the skip count and retrying gave different results.
Maybe try testing it on another device or tweaking the skip attempts once and see if it changes anything.
Yeah, I tried changing it to 2 skip attempts after decrypting one of the devices. With that setup, it worked as expected. The user was able to skip encryption twice during login.
Hey all!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Since the skip option works when set to 2 attempts, we can confirm that the policy is being applied and the skip functionality is working on the device. The behavior seems to differ specifically when the value is set to 1 skip attempt.
We’ll need to look into this further to understand why this particular configuration is not behaving as expected. Could you please try applying the configuration with 1 skip attempt on a different macOS device and let us know if the same behaviour persists there as well?
Best regards,
Isabel Lora
