Hey everyone, I’ve run into a bit of a manual labor nightmare. I’ve been assigning policies to our devices one by one, but now I need to disassociate them in bulk. Is there a way to batch-remove policies from several devices at once, or am I stuck clicking through them individually? Any shortcuts would be a lifesaver!

Batch policy disassociation is supported exclusively through Device Groups.
If policies were manually assigned to devices that are not currently part of a group, those policies must be removed from each device individually. To streamline your workflow and ensure scalability, we recommend utilizing Device Groups for all future bulk management tasks. These can be configured under Manage > Device Groups.

That’s a bummer to hear, @elle_reed . Looks like I’m in for a long day of manual clicking to fix these individual assignments.
Since I definitely don’t want to go through this again, how do I actually set up these “device groups” to make policy management easier for the future?

@reggie , Within the Device Groups section, you can utilize two primary methods to automate your policy management:

Custom Device Groups: These allow you to manually select and aggregate specific devices into a static group for collective policy application.

Dynamic Device Groups: These automate the process by automatically adding devices to a group based on predefined criteria, such as Operating System, Model, or Ownership status.
By organizing devices into these groups, you can apply or remove policies at the group level. This ensures that any device entering the group inherits the required policies automatically, and any necessary disassociation can be executed in a single batch operation.

@reggie , Definitely go with Dynamic Groups. We used to forget to assign policies to new devices all the time, but now it’s automated based on the OS. It’s a total “set it and forget it” fix – no more manual association/dissociation or worrying about missing a device during deployment!
