I was reading through this documentation on digital forensics and remote diagnostics, and I’m trying to wrap my head around what remote diagnostics mean specifically.

From how I understand it, it’s about IT teams being able to look into a device remotely and figure out what’s going wrong, instead of having the device physically in front of them.

Yeah, exactly. It’s not just checking basic device info either. They can view the screen, pull logs, and see what’s happening in real time, which helps a lot when users can’t clearly explain the issue.

That actually makes sense. I was wondering if it was just background monitoring, but it sounds more interactive than that.

It is. Think of it like a live troubleshooting session, except the admin doesn’t have to be anywhere near the device. Saves a ton of back-and-forth emails and calls.

And that’s where it ties into digital forensics too. Diagnostics helps fix the issue now, while forensics helps understand what happened earlier by reviewing logs and activity history.

I can see why both together are essential in larger environments where tracking issues manually would be a nightmare.
