Device resetSolved

Hey everyone,

I have a couple of Android tablets that are being issued to customers. Unfortunately, an applied policy disabled Wi-Fi and USB file transfer, which means the devices no longer have network connectivity and policies cannot be updated or removed.

When booting into recovery mode, the only available option is wiping the cache; the factory reset option is missing. Is there anything that can be done to recover or reset these devices?

That’s a tough spot to be in. If both network access and USB are disabled, the available recovery options are extremely limited. You may want to check whether manufacturer-level flashing is supported for those device models.

Hi,

Thank you for bringing this up.

We’re afraid the restrictions cannot be disabled without either a successful network check-in to deploy updated policies or manufacturer-level firmware flashing. Since USB data transfer is restricted by policy, ADB commands cannot be used to modify or wipe the device.

To prevent this from happening again, we recommend keeping at least one form of network connectivity enabled, such as Wi-Fi or mobile data, as a fallback. This ensures devices can always check in for remote policy updates or removal, even if an incorrect restriction is applied.
