I need help clearing the browser cache in the Safari browsers of iOS devices. We got a lot of devices at the workplace, so we’re essentially looking for a remote action to apply across all of the devices at once. Any ideas on this would be great!

@carter , for iOS devices, there is no remote action for clearing the Safari browser cache remotely. Since Safari is a system app, its data is protected under Apple’s security framework. Because of this, users must clear the cache manually from the device by navigating to: Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.

We have a set of iOS devices in web app kiosk mode too. Is it possible to clear the cache then?

@carter even in Web App Kiosk mode, Safari’s cache cannot be cleared remotely. However, if cache clearing is essential, you can switch to Hexnode Browser Lite instead of Safari. To do this,

  1. In the Web App Kiosk policy, set Open web app with to Hexnode Browser Lite.

  1. Add the required web apps under the same section.

  1. Go to Advanced Website Kiosk Settings > Browser History > Cache Settings.

  1. Enable Clear cache.

Once enabled, the browser cache will be automatically cleared whenever the page reloads.

I’d tried to manually clear the Safari browser cache in some iOS devices (non-kiosk), but the option “Clear History and Website Data” was greyed out. What is the issue here?

@arthur , this could possibly be due to any web filtering policies that had been applied or due to any screen-time restrictions.
