We have company chromebooks that multiple people use, so we’ve set up guest sessions. The problem is that some users don’t log out when they’re done, they just close the lid and leave. This could lead to serious issues. Is there any way to automatically log users out after a guest session?

I’m guessing your devices are enrolled in hexnode. If that’s the case, you can make use of the managed guest session policies. There’s also a Power management policy that lets you configure what happens when the lid is closed, like shutting down or logging out. I’ve used it outside of managed guest sessions before, but I noticed the same options under the managed guest session section as well.
Wait, is managed guest session a single policy or multiple?
It’s actually a whole section of policies dedicated to managed guest sessions. Definitely worth checking out.
Ah, I see. I completely missed that section. Thanks for pointing it out. I tested the policy and it works really well.
I have a quick question. It’s not exactly on the same point but still about the power management policy under managed guest sessions. I configured a few settings, but only some of them seem to be working on the device even though I’m on the supported chromeos version.
Yes, I ran into the same issue. From what I learned, some of those settings are not just version specific but also model specific. You might want to check if your device is listed here

That explains it. I didn’t realize it depended on the device model too. Thanks for clarifying.
