Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Hexnode Connect. I understand how disruptive this can be, especially when the web application depends on a specific browser engine.
Since your devices are already configured in Android Website Kiosk mode, the recommended approach is to define the browser directly within the Kiosk configuration instead of relying on the system default browser setting.
Please navigate to:
Kiosk Lockdown → Android Kiosk Lockdown → Website Kiosk Settings
Under the “Open web app with” option, select “Another browser”, and then choose Google Chrome.
This ensures that your enterprise web application launches specifically within Chrome as long as the kiosk configuration remains active, regardless of system-level default browser changes.
A few important points to note:
- The selected browser application must already be installed on the device.
- When using this option, URLs may still open within the chosen browser even if they are blocklisted at the kiosk level.
- If you need to allowlist or blocklist specific websites, navigate to: Android Policies → Security → Web Content Filtering This feature is available for Samsung Knox devices.
Configuring the browser directly in kiosk mode should prevent further disruptions caused by OS updates altering the default browser setting.
Best Regards,
George
