All devices need its own user?Solved

I just want to get your thoughts on this. Do we actually need to create a separate Hexnode user for every device?

Our drivers pick up whatever Android device is available depending on the vehicle they are assigned to, so it is not a one-user-per-device situation. I am trying to understand if creating individual Hexnode users for each device is even required.

It mainly depends on how the devices are used.

If the drivers just pick up any device and nothing needs to be tied to a specific person, you do not need to create a unique Hexnode user for every device. Many teams simply assign all such devices to a standard or generic user and manage them as company-owned units.

If you ever need driver-specific tracking or user-based policies, then assigning individual users becomes helpful.

Oh okay, that makes sense.

Since we are talking about users, there is something I was wondering.

Why can we enroll only a maximum of ten devices through the Android enterprise program for a single google workspace user? Is there any specific reason behind that limit? I saw a note about this under the android enterprise enrollment section in the portal.

The limit mainly exists to stop one Google workspace account from becoming a bulk-enrollment identity.

Android enterprise ties each enrolled device to a user, and when a single account starts owning too many devices, it becomes messy in terms of tracking ownership and maintaining security. Google wants device management to stay clean and tied to realistic user counts, so they set the maximum at ten.

There is also a backend reason.

Every device linked to a workspace user pulls play store sync, app installs and policy updates from Google’s servers. When too many devices sit under the same account, it creates an unusual amount of load on that one identity.

The ten-device cap keeps things stable and prevents organizations from placing their entire fleet under a single Workspace user to bypass proper identity management.
