macOS Local Accounts says update Hexnode Agent, but Hexnode UEM is already latestSolved

I’m trying to use the Local Accounts feature for a macOS device, but the portal shows: “Please update Hexnode Agent in the device to the latest version to access this feature.”

The Hexnode UEM app on the Mac already shows the latest version in About Hexnode UEM. In Action History, I noticed that “Install Application – Hexnode Service App” was triggered more than once, but it stays at “Initiated” with no finished time.

I also checked the Applications folder and only Hexnode UEM is installed. I don’t see the Hexnode Service App installed. The base agent and Remote Assist are launching normally, permissions are approved, and a manual sync did not change the Local Accounts message.

Is the Hexnode Service App required for Local Accounts on macOS, and how do I get the stuck install to complete?

Yes @ed_evans . For the macOS Local Accounts feature to become available, the required Hexnode agent components must be installed and reporting correctly on the device. If the Hexnode Service App installation is still shown as “Initiated,” the portal may continue to display the agent update message even when the main Hexnode UEM app is already on the latest version.

Try the following sequence:

  1. Restart the Mac.
  2. In the Hexnode UEM portal, open the device page.
  3. Go to Device Summary > Enrollment Details.
  4. Re-initiate the Hexnode Service App installation from there.
  5. Go to Actions > Scanning & Monitoring > Scan Device.
  6. Wait for the device to check in and verify whether the Service App installation moves from “Initiated” to a completed state.

After the Hexnode Service App is installed and the device has checked in, refresh the device page and try opening Local Accounts again.
