How can I wipe an iPad in Hexnode before assigning it to a new user?Solved

I have an iPad enrolled in Hexnode that needs to be handed over to a new user. I want it to behave like a new device, with all previous user data, saved content, and settings removed. What is the right Hexnode action for this? Also, after wiping it, do I need to run a Scan Device action?

Hello @richard_hank ,

For this use case, use the Wipe Device action.

Steps:

1. Go to Manage.

2. Select the iPad.

3. Open Actions.

4. Choose Wipe Device.

5. Confirm the action.

This erases the device data and resets the iPad. Before sending the wipe command, make sure the device is online and actively checking in with the Hexnode UEM portal so that it can receive the command successfully.

A Scan Device action is not required after the wipe. If you only want to refresh device details before performing the wipe, you can run Scan Device first. Once the wipe completes, the device may show as disenrolled because the management profile is removed during the reset.

So the next step is just to enroll it again before giving it to the new user?

Yes. After the wipe, the iPad has to be re-enrolled in Hexnode UEM before it can be managed again. Once re-enrolled, policies, apps, restrictions, and other configurations can be applied again for the new user.
