Hey people, recently I’ve noticed that after enrolling a few Android devices, the SSID of the network to which the device is connected is shown as under the Devices tab.

Unknown value for Wi-Fi SSID.

I tried scanning the device again after enrollment but it remained the same. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Hey @luke welcome to Hexnode Connect! Regarding the issue, please ensure that the location setting on the devices is turned on. This is because from Android 8.0, the Hexnode UEM app on the device requires access to location services to fetch the SSID of the connected wi-fi network.

@kylian_parker , the location setting has been turned on in all devices prior to enrollment.

@luke , this issue is likely due to how the location permission for the Hexnode UEM app was granted during the enrollment process. If the permission was set to “Allow only while using the app” instead of “Allow all the time“, the device will fetch the Wi-Fi SSID only when the Hexnode UEM app is open. To ensure the SSID is fetched at all times, you have to make sure that the location permission for the Hexnode UEM app is set to “Allow all the time” during the enrollment process. To resolve this issue, I recommend that you re-enroll any devices for which the Wi-Fi SSID is not visible in the Hexnode portal.

Location permission for Hexnode UEM app.
