Hey folks, my wallpaper policy has been stuck on “In Progress” since Jan 5th. Not sure what’s going on, and the devices are enrolled fine, but nothing’s moving. Anyone else seen this?

Yeah, I’ve had policies hang like that before. Sometimes it’s just the device not talking properly to APNs. Restarting usually helps.
I actually tried restarting the devices already, but it’s still stuck. Any other ideas?
Hello everyone!
A policy stuck on “In Progress” typically indicates either a communication gap between the device and Apple Push Notification service (APNs), or a potential conflict with another policy.
To resolve this, you can try resaving the policy by navigating to the Policies tab, selecting the specific wallpaper policy, and then clicking Manage → Modify → Save. This action re-applies the policy and can sometimes prompt the devices to pick up the changes. After doing this, check the status in Action History to confirm whether the action has succeeded.
It is also important to check if there are any other policies associated with these devices which also contain wallpaper settings. If two policies are attempting to set up different images, the actions may remain stuck indefinitely.
You can also try restarting the device. Restarting usually forces the device to check in with Apple’s servers and often clears stuck MDM commands. Since you’ve already tried this, I recommend focusing on the first two approaches above.

Ah, got it. I just realized I had another wallpaper policy overlapping with this one. Removed it and looks like it’s working now.
Thanks, @simon_scott !
I didn’t know about the “resave” trick, so that’s good to keep in mind.
Thanks, @simon_scott , for the hint!
