What’s new

Hexnode Access now lets you fall back to local login when Hexnode Access authentication isn’t available. We’ve introduced the Fallback to Local Login option within Hexnode Access for both macOS and Windows platforms. This ensures that if cloud authentication is unavailable, users aren’t left stranded at the login screen.

Why it’s useful

Identity providers and networks aren’t infallible. Whether it’s a service outage or a “dead zone” in the field, authentication hurdles shouldn’t result in downtime.

  • Zero Lockouts: Users can bypass cloud auth using their local device credentials.

  • Automatic Recovery: Once connectivity is restored, Hexnode Access seamlessly resumes its standard authentication flow.

  • Admin Peace of Mind: You maintain security posture without the influx of “I can’t log in” helpdesk tickets.

Where it helps

  • Remote users with patchy internet: If connectivity drops mid-login, users can still access their devices without waiting for the network to stabilize.

  • Field or frontline devicesDevices that frequently go offline (on-site, or in low-connectivity zones) remain usable without interruptions.

  • Business-critical environmentsIn setups where even short lockouts impact productivity or operations, fallback login keeps work moving without delays.

The Bottom Line

Connectivity shouldn’t be a requirement for productivity. With Local Login Fallback, you get the security of Hexnode Access for macOS and Windows devices without the risk of a total lockout when the internet decides to quit.
