iPhone stuck offline in Lost ModeSolved

We have an iPhone that was intentionally placed into Lost Mode from Hexnode, but now it is stuck on the Lost Mode screen and is offline. What is the best way to get the device back online? Also, is there a policy setup that can keep iPhones connected to the internet while they are in Lost Mode so this does not keep happening?

Hello @jaxon_r ,

For an iOS device that is already in Lost Mode and offline, Hexnode UEM cannot send a command to disable Lost Mode until the device reconnects to the internet.

The available options to bring the device online are:

  1. Connect the iPhone to a network using an Apple-certified Lightning-to-Ethernet adapter connected to an active router or LAN.
  2. Connect the iPhone to a Mac using a Lightning-to-USB cable and enable Internet Sharing on the Mac.

If both methods fail and the device remains offline in Lost Mode, the remaining recovery path is to place the iPhone in Recovery Mode and restore it using a computer. After the restore, the device can be re-enrolled into Hexnode UEM.

For future prevention, deploy these policy configurations before using Lost Mode:

  • Wi-Fi policy with Auto-Join enabled for a known trusted network.
  • Enable Force Wi-Fi ON restriction under advanced restrictions, so Wi-Fi cannot be turned off.

This helps the device automatically reconnect to the trusted Wi-Fi network whenever it is within range, including after Lost Mode is enabled.
