I guess from the Hexnode portal, administrators can initiate a remote action to clear app data.

Wait..isn’t that applicable only for certain device types or versions?

Oh is it? But if you’re managing a big fleet of supported devices, the remote clear option is a huge time saver.

Thank you for your valuable input. Yes, as suggested above to clear app data of applications on devices, you can:

  1. Login to the Hexnode portal and navigate to Manage > Devices.

  1. Select the devices on which app data needs to be cleared by checking the box adjacent to them.

  1. Go to Actions > Applications > Clear App Data.

  1. Select the required application(s) and click on Next.

  1. Specify the number of selected applications and click on Clear Data.

To clear the app data from the Device Summary page of a particular device:

  1. Log in to your Hexnode UEM portal.

  1. On your dashboard, click on Manage > Devices.

  1. Click on a device name. You will be taken to the specific Device Summary page.

  1. Click on Applications. Here you will see a list of all installed apps on your device.

  1. Identify the app and click on Settings (gear icon) on the right. Choose “Clear App Data” from the drop-down list.

  1. If the action has been completed successfully, the “Clear App Data” action will be marked as Success in the Action History tab.

But please take a note that:

  • This feature works only on Samsung Knox devices and Android Enterprise devices running on Android 9.0 and above.

  • You won’t be able to clear the data of applications with Device Admin privileges, and in some cases, data stored in external storage cannot be cleared.

Exactly. If your device doesn’t fall into that category, forget the portal. You’ll have to clear data manually.

What if i want to clear cache instead of the app data?
